Qufu (曲阜) is a small city in Shandong Province China, about 8 hours by train from Beijing, or 2 hours by high speed rail. Famous as the birthplace and hometown of Confucius (Kongzi (孔子) in Chinese), Qufu attracts tourists to see the San Kong (the “Three Confuciuses”): The Confucian Forest, Confucian Mansion, and Confucian Temple. Qufu is also close to Mount Tai (known as Taishan (泰山) in Chinese), the sacred mountain which has been climbed by each of China’s rulers, and is an easy trip away from Shandong Province’s capitol, Jinan (济南).
